The best day of your life. Moments that will last a lifetime. The day no one will ever forget. The lace, the silk, the satin, beauty in all colors and textures. There is so much to choose from. How do you find the time to do all of it?
Some people opt to hire professionals to help with the fashion coordination. But in this day, can any of us really afford to hire professionals when we could easily do things things ourselves?
When you hear the word professional, does it make you cringe with green pocket pain? Can we really afford the price tag of a fashion professional? I have taken the liberty of finding a professional to interview. Maybe this will answer some questions you may have about fashion coordination and if it is something you would be interested in spending extra money on to make your wedding even better.
I have contacted Lori, a LaylaLynn fashion consultant. Lori, Why would a wedding party hire you?
Lori: A wedding is a joyous time, however, it can be a burdening affair. There are many different wedding professionals that handle many different tasks. A photographer, a caterer, a planner, and so on. These professionals are here to ensure that the specific events that they were hired for go according to plan. The same is true with a fashion consultant. Where you wouldn't dream of taking pictures yourself, with your digi, the same goes with the fashion aspect. Every bride is different and every bride's maid is different. A Fashion consultant wants to make sure every person is comfortable, and stylish in their apparel.
As a fashion consultant, what is it that you do?
Lori: Well, first we want to make sure that we gather the correct information. We understand that the wedding party most likely has an idea of how they want their wedding to look and feel. I make sure to keep these ideas in mind and never slough them off before my own ideas. I take the colors and the look inspired by the wedding party and use them to mold a beautiful event.
We've seen in movies, where the bride's maids hate the selected dresses. How do you help in that situation.
Lori: In the beginning, I discuss the possibility of changing the style of the dress for each lady. If this is an option, I measure each lady involved and assess their body types. Then, I put put together individual portfolios for matching each body type to particular styles of dresses that will flatter their body types the best.
How much stress does this really take off the wedding party?
Lori: Have you ever had so much to do that you didn't know where to start? Well, delegating tasks is a great way to be able to focus on what is truly important, being happy. When someone else does the leg work, you just have to focus on what you want. If you can weed out everything you don't want and just be faced with choices of what you might want, then it will be easier and less time consuming to get what you've dreamt of.
You mentioned before about different body types; how do you handle odd sizes or proportions of different ladies?
Lori: The great thing about using a LaylaLynn consultant is, we can provide dresses in customs sizes. So whether you are busty, skinny, curvy, etc., you can always be sure to match perfectly with the other ladies. And since every dress is custom made, they never go out of stock or out of style!
Can the average person really afford to hire a fashion consultant?
Lori: The reality of it is, you can't afford not to hire a fashion consultant. As a LaylaLynn fashion consultant, I work directly with the dress makers. We offer package prices, you can usually get the dresses custom made at near wholesale price with a package. Using a fashion consultant, doesn't only save you time and energy, but definitely will save you money.
Before we close this interview, what is one thing you want to tell the ladies out there who are planning a wedding?
Lori: You need to be happy. Statistics have proven that the happier your wedding day, the longer your marriage will last. We are here to help you with that, and not break the bank at the same time.
